Branding for EZSpecial, a pop rock band

Maybe the first work i did for EZSpecial and Volume. EZSpecial needed a logo, in fact they needed a brand. Something that could represent the band.

I came up with this logo based on the first two letter set in Dogma Outline, a font from Emigre. This gave instantly a vey pop feeling to the logo and was completed with the contrasting “special” being set in a more mundane and utilitarian font.

The effect at that time was something like a comics text ballon shouting “ez”.

The logo performed vey well for over five years after which it was replaced by a more minimal and simple logo more in tune with the direction of the band.
